RE: This was just weird.....WEIRD!!!

Crowe:
Your comparing apples to oranges.
I had duck tails, I was a teenager and it was controversial. But when I decided to be a big boy and join the adult world, a simple haircut made the transition pretty darn easy.
I don't know how anyone can join the real world with baseball sized washers in their earlobes. Tattoos????? It used to be a simple heart and I love Wanda on the arm. Now, you see people with elaborate arm, leg, back, face covering of tattoos.
I know that its a way of expression, but I have to wonder how many of these individuals wake up and find that its too late to get a meaningful job because they look like they belong in a circus.
I couldn't agree with you more. A fashion statement in clothing and hair style is completely different than filling your face and body with piercings and horns.
Sorry, but when we owned a well known card and gift shop I would not waste my time interviewing anyone with built-in horns, purple hair, a face filled with studs and washers in their ears..:E
That, "hey look at me" fashion doesn't cut it in the business world in most cases.

RE: Who is in AZ for the winter?

We arrived here in Gulf Shores Alabama in Oct.. We love it here and had planned to stay until the end of Dec.. We've been on a waiting list to stay longer and got lucky yesterday. Due to a cancellation we can stay until the end of January...
In Feb we will be heading to Arizona and then on back to California for a month or so. We will then head back to Arizona until the weather is right to head north.
Is this life great or what? :)

Yup, today is one of those days. It's raining down here in Gulf Shores. I've wrapped our grandsons Christmas gifts for shipping, dh is enjoying a football game and dinner is in the oven.

Our daughter-in-laws family name is Ferrari. She is a wonderful cook as is her mother. My favorite place to eat, is at our sons house.:p
I should have been born Italian instead of Norwegian. I love Italian food. Norwegian food? not so much.:B

RE: Why have rules?

It doesn't sound petty at all. We learned a long time ago to pass on holiday camping. It was always too crowded and stressful imo.
The funny thing is, now that we are fulltime rving, we've not had any problems at all.

RE: history channel?????

We've noticed this on several shows, not just The History Channel. Some shows have have too much back ground noise, that does seem to over power the dialog. Cold Case is one of those shows. We enjoy watching the reruns of The Sopranos. If Tony and his gang talk while they are in the night club, we need subtitles.:R
That darn stripper music is just too loud.:W
My big grip is how loud commercials are. :M

RE: Woman loses 400K to Nigerian Email Scam

I'm shocked over the number of pityless and uncompassionate responses to this tragic story. Through no fault of her own, this woman has singlehandedly destroyed the wealth of she and her husband. What these people truely need is understanding and assistance to get their lives back on track.
Therefore, I will happily donate $1000 for their benefit to help them out of this great hardship. And, I am setting up a support mechanism via Ben's Bank of Boise where you can make like contributions. I'll make it my life's work to insure this couple get 100% of the proceeds. I'll respond to your PM with the mailing address where you can send your cash contributions.
You have a huge heart and your plea has moved me greatly. My check is in the mail.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/bbuchanan/ROTFLMAO.gif
This post and this reply has made my day.:p I haven't laughed much today, but that all changed when I read this post.:B

RE: Bank of America - RANT

Maybe I am missing something. Is the new rate on the card BALANCE or just on NEW add ons? I don't think they can raise the rate on an existing balance but only on what you add AFTER the rate change. Am I wrong? Since I don't carry credit card payments I don't know.
Also if you tell the other two banks that you are canceling the accounts, you are then seen as a risk by other banks since YOU didn't feel you could handle the other credit cards. You are caught in a "Catch 22" with them. You just can't win! That was on NBC news the other night.
Frank
The new rate is on the balance.
You mean that if she closed the account, BOA would still charge her the higher interest rate on the BALANCE?

RE: Bose Wave radio

I guess I'm the odd ball, my folks have one and I was very un-impressed with the sound, I expected a lot more.
From all the adds you would think it had a very high quality sound, to me it sounds like a big transitor radio and I wouldn't spend the money on one.
Yikes, I do believe that this is the first time I've heard someone say they were not impressed with a Bose. I'm sure there are other who feel the same way, but we love our Bose... A few years ago my sis and her husband got one. We really liked it and thought the sound was great, so we ordered one for ourselves. This was before they had cd players built in... When they came out with the cd players built in, we bought a second Bose and put the first one in the bedroom.
I absolutely love our Bose. When we went full time we took the newer one with us and packed away the first one. I refused to let it go in our estate sale.
Bose is the best sounding small radio we've ever had.:)

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

No pressure intended Richard, but when Sarah came to you, no dog needed a loving home more than she did imo. It's certainly going to be difficult to find another home for her as perfect a fit as the one she is living in right now.
I'm like Walter, I would never be able to be a foster parent. My heart could not take it. Sarah is beautiful. I do hope she will be so lucky as to find a perfect home twice in her life. :@

RE: Electric Mattress Pads vs Electric Blankets

Thanks to everyone for all the advice. I guess we will try the mattress pad. I am looking at the Sunbeam which has dual controls and a 10 hour shut-off. Crawling into a warm bed will be so nice on a cold night.
We have a Sunbeam queen mattress pad for our 5th wheel and we love it. We full time and use it often now...In the past we've always used an electric blanket. The problem with the blanket is, you are not suppose to lay or sit ON the blanket because of possible damage to the wiring.
We are very happy with our choice. :)

RE: Chrysler asks for bailout, gives bonuses....

Now why is it I should not be able to take the 30 and out again?
Firemen only have to work 20 years and can retire cops 25 and both get full health care, for their self, spouse and all eligible dependents. Sorry that’s on my dime as a tax payer so let’s make both of these groups work until they are 65. Every fireman I know has life by the short hairs, they work one day then get two off and if they come in on a day off they receive a Kelly day that they can bank. A buddy on Toledo’s fire department took 12 weeks off in a row and told me he could take another 2 months off. Sure sounds like a gravy train job to me and yes before you tell me how dangerous their jobs is I was a Volunteer for Sylvania Twps Fire Department so you don’t need to go their. Police and Firefighters don’t even make the top 10 when it comes to on the job deaths/injury.
The American public's need for a Fireman and Policeman is far greater than their need for an American car and the person who assembled it..
Apples and oranges imo.

I love dogs and have had a couple in my life. I even have a couple of "grand dogs".... However after reading 5 pages of this thread about dogs barking, I'm going to give my cats a hug and a few kitty treats. :B
Our neighbors never saw our cats and they never bothered anyone with their meows.:W
